Our microwaves save the day every day. They are one of the most commonly used appliances in our homes, from heating up food to warming up heating pads and even removing stamps from envelopes. We use them every day and for many of us, it shows. We don’t always clean them right away, or as often as we like.
We won’t judge! Microwaves are small and out of sight, which usually means out of mind. And while we would hope to clean up every spill and splatter that happens in a microwave, if you aren’t deep cleaning homes every single day like we do, it’s easy to forget until the next time you use it. By then, the spill has hardened and is usually harder to clean.

First, fill up a microwave-safe bowl halfway with water. Add ¼ cup of lemon juice or (our favorite non toxic hack!) trusty vinegar.
Place it at the center and microwave for five minutes. Let sit for a few minutes.
When you open the microwave, the inside will be humid and dripping with water. Carefully remove the bowl and using a rag or sponge, wipe down the top, sides, and bottom of the appliance. Everything will come right off, like magic!
That’s it! A simple yet effective hack that takes minimal effort and almost no time at all.
