New England Home Cleaning Must-Dos: Spring Edition

We love New England; that’s why we call it home. We have four distinct seasons (even if one of them tends to stick around longer than all the others). We can always count on a beach, hiking trail, or historic city somewhere nearby, sometimes all three.  And because of the rich history here, there is so much beautiful architecture all around us. These perks, however, come with some upkeep and– you guessed it– deep cleaning.

Since we are in the business of home cleaning in and around the Greater Boston area, we are sharing three home cleaning must-dos here in New England, and why they’re so important in the springtime.

    1) Floors

April Showers bring May flowers… but what about all of the rain in March, April, and even June?

It rains a lot here in New England, and while we know it’s in preparation for all of the greenery we get to enjoy in summer, rain also means mud. With the amount of mud that we are tracking in all day long, it’s important to pay special attention to our floors, especially if they are the hardwood floors that are widely popular in classic New England homes.

A weekly mopping or vacuuming just won’t cut it. We recommend pretreating wood floors, making your home outdoor shoe-free, mopping up wet tracks right away, and vacuuming and deodorizing carpets and rugs more regularly.

    2) Weather (or season) proofing

City of Boston in rainy weather

Winter might hold its grip on us for a while here in New England, but when springtime finally comes, it comes suddenly. The same can be said for all the seasons. The weather changes can be very extreme, which is why maintaining your home is so important. Making sure your gutters are clear, for example, is a way to weatherproof your home, as clogged gutters can create catastrophic water damage to a home.

Keeping your trash and recycling bins and general area clean and tidy and decluttering basement and attic spaces help to keep common pests in the area at bay, especially during a change of season and weather pattern.

These cleaning routines are necessary in New England but they are easy to stay on top of with the help of a reliable, experienced cleaning team. Greenly Pro is here to help you stay on top of weather-proofing your home. Just give us a call and we’ll walk you through the different services we offer!

    3) Bugs

Suns out, ants out. Ants, and spiders, cockroaches, and tons of other creepy crawlies that love to make their debut during the springtime.

Here are a few Greenly ways to keep your home pest free:

Keeping all floors, surfaces, and crevices clear of crumbs, debris, and moisture

    Cleaning dirty dishes right away

Deep cleaning your drains and dishwasher

    Cleaning behind appliances

    Sweeping/vacuuming and mopping regularly

Wiping down walls and backsplashes to remove any scents left behind by bugs that create trails for friends to follow, like ants

All in all, a cleaner, tidier home helps to deal with the seasonal challenges we face in the New England area. For an extra hand this year, give us a call!
