Three House Cleaning Products To Retire – and Green Alternatives

We all love a clean house. We know how it feels to come home to a clean and tidy place after a long day. At Greenly Pro, we don’t believe it needs to be at the expense of your health. This is why it is our mission to offer house cleaning services that are green and mindful of what matters– our clients’ comfort and safety.  To help you embrace the power of green, no matter where you are,  we are sharing four common house cleaning products you want to retire today… and some incredible green alternatives you can use instead.

    1) Ammonia to clean

Ammonia is a common ingredient in many house cleaning products, as well as in a bottle all on its own. It is inexpensive, easy to find, and works well to cut through grease, clean windows, etc. However, it is also a powerful irritant, producing fumes that are very toxic and hazardous to your health.

There are many greener alternatives on the market that can be used instead of ammonia. Simply look at the ingredients to confirm it does not contain any prior to purchase. A completely non-toxic option is white vinegar!

    2) Most oven cleaners

Many of the popular oven cleaners today contain lye, or sodium hydroxide. This is one of the most dangerous substances for household use on the market. These and other similarly toxic chemicals are commonly used because they are effective, but they are also harsh and corrosive to the respiratory system.  There are, however, toxic-free alternatives to these chemical cleaners. Create a 3:1:1 solution of baking soda, salt, and water. Apply liberally to your oven. Let it sit overnight before scraping away the next day. This method requires a bit more elbow grease, but we believe it is well worth the effort if it means protecting yourself from harsh chemicals.

    3) Air freshener

Clean has a smell, doesn’t it? It’s one of the first things our clients notice when they walk into their home or business after we’ve cleaned.

Many people try to achieve the same effect on a more regular basis by use of an air freshener. Research shows, however, that most air fresheners on the market contain synthetic scents and chemical compounds that are actually harmful for the lungs and are linked to liver and kidney damage and even cancer. This includes plug-in air fresheners, which are very popular these days. Thankfully, there are much greener and toxic-free alternatives to air fresheners that can be used to keep your home or office smelling fresh and clean.

Whether it’s your home or business, we are as invested in the cleanliness and safety of your space as much as you are. Interested in hearing more about the products we use to achieve a deep clean that leaves your space sparkling? Give us a call!
